OUGD401 - Study Task 7 - Pitching your Ideas / Further Development

Pitching ideas:

Figure 1

Figure 2
Figure 3

The 3 poster designs which I decided to pitch to my peers where the posters that included the use of the photographs from the shoot I did. Figure 1 included the picture involving the cling film. I think that this was important to use because it shows the extreme extents that men these days are going to for the 'perfect body' that they have been convinced is important to have. To develop this further my peers told me to look at the placing of the quote at the top of the poster and to make sure that none of the words in the block are hyphenated as it would look better without. Figure two is the poster that looks at body dysmorphic disorder using the photo of the model in front of a mirror. To improve this design I once again need to make sure there are no hyphens in the block text. I was also suggested that I look at highlighting some of the important parts of the text in some way so that they stand out more. Figure 3 is the design questioning perfection. My peers liked the use of black and white for this poster but I need to make sure that the title stand out enough in front of the picture so maybe should look at the opacity of the background image. Once again for development I need to make sure that none of the words in the block text are hyphenated.

Development:

Figure 4
Figure 5
Figure 6

All of the changes I made for my development as suggested by my peers where quite subtle but definitely did make a difference. I removed all of the hyphens in the block text from all of the posters and changed the positioning of some of the text in Figure 4 as suggested. I think that the text looks so much better without the hyphenated words and the positioning of the quote at the top of Figure 4 gives the poster a better composition. I think it makes the poster seem more balanced by putting that text in the middle. I highlighted the words in Figure 5 that I thought were more important and I think this helped to make the block text not seem so difficult to read. Finally I played with the opacity for Figure 5 and 6. I decided to keep the opacity for Figure 5 the same as it was originally because the picture didn't have the same impact with the opacity any lower. However I took the opacity down on Figure 6 only a small amount so that you are still able to see the picture well but it allows the text to stand out a bit more.
